Authentic Burmese Cuisine

Hello! I'm excited to share that I've started a blog called "Food with Mi". The purpose of this blog is to introduce nutritious, delicious, and flavourful Burmese cuisine to my readers. Before I dive into listing all the different types of dishes, I'd like to give you a bit of background on Burma. Often when I tell people I'm Burmese, they're not quite sure where that is. While many Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia (Bali), China, Singapore, and Malaysia are popular destinations for travellers and tourists, Burma may be less well-known.

Myanmar, previously known as Burma until 1989, is located in Southeast Asia with a population of approximately 55 million. It shares borders with China, India, Laos, and Thailand, which has influenced the variety of available dishes. While we have our unique cooking styles and flavours, our cuisine is a mixture of influences from neighbouring countries. Some of our popular dishes include noodles, curries served with rice, soups, and salads. Our food is known for being colourful, flavourful, and delicious, and is enjoyed by all Burmese people.

You can see from the pictures above that La Phat Thote Tea Leaves Salad is one of the popular dishes from Myanmar. The one in the middle is called Ka Yan Chin Tee Nga Pi Chat Tomato Shrimp Paste Curry, and the last one is Kyar Zan Hin Khar Chicken and Glass Noodle Soup. Although some of the dish names might be hard to pronounce, the taste is simply amazing. As they say, "Food is the love language." You just need to taste it to fall in love. This is the perfect place to try new and authentic Burmese cuisine. I am here to introduce you to the delicious taste of Burmese dishes.
